Scorpion Bay Safety Tips

Scorpion Bay Marina at 10970 W. Peninsula Road in Peoria, AZ, prioritizes safety. Whether you’re an experienced sailor or a novice, the marina provides nautical adventures by offering numerous options, including private charters, pontoon boats, sport boats, kayaks and water toys.

The Coast Guard visits Scorpion Bay annually each year to check all the boats.

Jack Polly, Division Commander for AZ Division 10 United Coast Guard Auxiliary, said they have been doing this for over 80 years, since 1939. The primary mission is remote boating safety.

Their safety tips below will assist boaters as they enjoy the panoramic lake views of Lake Pleasant.

Marina Safety:

  • Be Safe on Our Docks

Please remember that our docks are floating. They are constantly moving with water traffic and weather conditions. Be careful and conscious of your movements and surroundings at all times.

  • Take Care of Your Pets!

Pets are welcome on the docks. Maricopa County Park guidelines require they be kept on a leash while on the dock. We also request that you pick up after your pet.

  • Shoes Required!

Shoes are required on the dock. Fishing hooks, screws, rocks, sharp edges and glass are all potential hazards that can severely harm bare feet.

  • No Swimming!

For your own safety, there is NO SWIMMING from the docks or the marina area.

  • Life Jackets: Save Lives

The Right Fit:

  • LOOK at the label, make sure it is approved for your size and weight, and also approved for use by the Coast Guard
  • FASTEN all zippers, straps and ties. Tighten appropriately.
  • CHECK the fit. Have someone pull up on the arm holes to make sure the chin, head and neck can’t slip through.

Remember, Lake Pleasant is known for unpredictable weather and windy conditions that may be present at any moment.  Please check weather forecasts regularly – before heading out to the park and during your visit.
